10 Things That I Wish I Knew Before Coming to Dunedin

I wish someone have blogged or have told me about these before coming over. So, I would know what to prepare, what to expect and what to do and bring.

1. Bring more clothings. KL definitely have more choices than here. Of course, it doesn't applies to you if you are loaded and you can afford to go down to Christchurch or Auckland to shop every other weekend. Bring more clothing that you can layer up when it's cold. I am sure you don't want to get caught wearing the same thing all over again.

2. Bring your own exercise book / writing pad. Not because you can't buy it here. You can. But, the paper just so thin. Probably, I am just fussy. I like the quality of paper used back home. And, beside it's also pretty expensive here.

3. If you have very very small feet like mine. You might have problem buying shoes here. Smallest adult shoes here are usually size 5 and up. And, I'm a size 4. So, I guess I'll need to shop at kids department.

4. Bring lots of Malaysian food if you are like me. I crave for Malaysian food like instant teh tarik, milo, maggi mee curry, and so on....and so forth. It does help having all these when you misses home.

5. Bring an extension cord so you can charge everything all at once using only, one travel adapter. As you might already know, the New Zealand have very different power socket compared to back home.

6. Have your International Driving License made. You never know if you might need it. As for me, sadly...I forgot all about it. So, probably I'll need to send someone back home to help me get it done and mail it over.

7. If you really must bring an electrical appliances, probably you should bring a rice cooker. Not that you can't get it here. You can but, just lesser choice and varieties.

8. Preferably, take a direct flight or the shortest hours possible. Or else, you'll get so sick of air planes and the waiting at the airport. Or stop a day or two at a transit point, it will keep you energize.

9. Still, bring more food that you love.

10. Bring some spicy ingredients if you are a Hot & Spicy person.

If I can do everything all over again, I would shop more clothings in KL and, pack more of my favourite Malaysian food here. Other than that, you can practically buy anything and everything here. It isn't that expensive.
